Paldao Timber Veneer
Paldao Timber Veneer – Paldao (Dracontomelum dao) is found in the tropical rainforests of Papua New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. It can grow to a height of 30 meters with a diameter around 2 meters.
The colour ranges from light brown to deep chocolate brown, often with hints of olive or gray. Some pieces may display subtle golden or greenish undertones. Its grain pattern is typically straight but can also exhibit dramatic interlocked, wavy, or fiddleback figures, adding visual depth. The texture is medium to coarse with a natural lustre, making it appealing for high-end interiors. It is easy to cut and sand and glues and finishes well, making it a versatile choice for woodworking. It is used in furniture, cabinetry, wall panelling, and luxury interior applications due to its elegant and exotic appearance. It has a remote resemblance to European Walnut.
